How scrapping a caravan works in Leeds

You pay us to take your caravan away. We don’t pay you for it, we don’t sell parts from it, and we never collect one for nothing. That is the deal on every scrapping job in Leeds, and it is better to know it now than to find out on the phone.

What you get in return is a fixed figure before anything is booked, a crew that turns up when it says it will, and a caravan that is dismantled and recycled properly instead of dumped on a verge off the ring road.

What it costs to scrap a caravan in Leeds

• Touring caravan that still tows: £500–£600. It needs its wheels and has to be sound enough to survive the trip. We hitch up and take it.
• Touring caravan that won’t tow: £500–£850. We dismantle it where it stands, or move it on a tow bed. Either way it is the same scrapping job. You hire the skip yourself, usually a 6–8 yard one.
• Static caravan: £1,800–£3,980. We break it down on site and take the waste away. If we can burn the timber on site, it comes down by a few hundred pounds.

Leeds access: why we ask where the caravan is parked

Leeds is a mix of tight terraces and wide-open edges, and the access changes the job. A tourer squeezed behind a back-to-back in Harehills or Armley, with a narrow ginnel and cars parked both sides, is a different collection from one standing on a farm track out towards Wetherby or Otley.

The city’s position helps. Leeds sits where the M62, M1 and A1(M) meet, so getting a recovery vehicle to the edge of the city is rarely the problem. The last hundred yards usually are. Tell us about steep drives, low gates, overhanging trees or a pitch at the back of a storage yard, and we’ll price the job properly the first time.

Be straight with us about the condition

This is the part that goes wrong most often. We’re told a caravan is “towable”, then arrive to find a wheel missing, a floor that gives way underfoot or a wall coming away from the frame. A caravan like that can’t be towed down the M62 safely, so the job we quoted can’t go ahead.

Send clear photos before we confirm a price: all four sides, the tyres and hitch, the floor inside, and every patch of damp or damage you know about. A soft spot you mention now costs nothing extra to plan for. One we discover on the day means a new quote and a wasted trip for both of us.

Statics on Yorkshire parks

A lot of Leeds families keep a static on the coast, out along the A64 at Filey or Scarborough, or up in the Dales. When the park asks for an old unit to be cleared from the pitch, we dismantle the static on site and take the waste away. Static caravan removal costs £1,800–£3,980, and we’ll confirm the figure from photos and the park’s access rules before booking.

We don’t buy statics, and we don’t move them to another pitch. If a static leaves a park with us, it is being scrapped.

How a Leeds collection works

Fill in the form with the make, rough age, where it is parked and whether it still tows. Then add the photos. A short video walk-round helps too.

2. Get a fixed price

We come back with a figure in the right band for your caravan. That is what you pay, provided the caravan matches the photos.

3. Book within 24 hours

We’re heavily booked across West Yorkshire. Confirm within a day of your quote and we can usually hold an early date. Leave it a week and the next slot may be several weeks out.

4. Collection and paperwork

We collect or dismantle the caravan, take it away for recycling, and you keep the paperwork that shows it was disposed of properly.

Can I scrap a caravan without the paperwork?

Usually, yes. Proof that it is yours helps, such as the CRiS registration document for a tourer or a letter from the park for a static. Plenty of older caravans have changed hands so many times that the paperwork has gone. If yours has, tell us when you enquire and we’ll explain what we need instead.

Is your tourer still worth selling?

If your touring caravan still tows and has only minor damp or damage, scrapping may not be the right move.
