What decking and awning removal actually costs when we scrap your caravan

Book us to scrap a caravan and the quote you get back is for the caravan. It doesn't automatically stretch to the decking bolted round a static, the shed sat next to it, or the awning still zipped to a touring van's rail. Decking and awning removal is the part that catches people out. We'll do it, but only if we know about it before the price is set, not on arrival.

What's usually sitting around a caravan that isn't the caravan itself

On a static pitch, it's rarely just the caravan. Decking, steps and skirting boards are bolted straight to the frame. There's often a storage box, a small shed, or planters built into the base. On a touring pitch, it's usually an awning, a motor mover, or hardstanding slabs the owner laid themselves. All of it has to be accounted for before we can give you a number that holds up on the day.

Is decking and awning removal included in the price, or does it cost extra?

Decking and awning removal isn't priced as a separate line. It's folded into the job, but it does change which end of the range you land on. Clearing decking, skirting and a shed from around a static takes real time and produces real waste, which is why a full set-up around the van pushes the job toward the top of the range rather than the bottom. Here's how the ranges break down:

Caravan typeWhat's involvedPrice
Touring — towableWheels on, sound enough to survive the journey, caravan collected as-is£350–£450
Touring — not towableBroken up on site, or taken away on a tow bed£500–£850
StaticBroken up on site, decking and surroundings cleared, waste taken away£1,800–£3,980

The skip isn't included on a not-towable touring job. You'll need to arrange your own, 6–8 yards. On a static job, if we can burn the timber on site rather than skip it, the price comes down by a few hundred pounds.

Why we ask about decking before quote day, not on it

We ask what's actually there before we confirm a price, because a caravan described as "just needs collecting" sometimes turns out to have a full deck, a shed and a set of steps fixed on. Clear photos of everything around the caravan, not just the caravan itself, are how we get the quote right the first time. It's the same logic behind being clear about what's actually there when you first ask for a quote: tell us now, or we'll be renegotiating later.

Touring extras: awnings, motor movers and hardstanding

Awnings

An awning left attached, or still bagged by the rail, comes off as part of the job. Tell us it's there when you book and it's covered in the quote. Leave it out of the conversation and a tourer that looked straightforward on paper turns into a longer job once we're stood in front of it.

Motor movers and loose fittings

Motor movers, gas bottles and anything wired or fixed to the chassis get taken with the caravan. If a motor mover is still fitted, say so, because it changes how the caravan sits on a tow bed if it's going that route.

Storage boxes and hardstanding

Storage boxes and awning bags come with the job if they're sat with the caravan. Hardstanding slabs you've laid yourself usually stay put. We clear what's attached to or resting against the caravan, not permanent groundwork on the pitch.

What to photograph so your quote actually covers everything

Send us these before we quote, and the price you get back will match the job on the day:

  1. The whole caravan, all four sides
  2. Decking, steps or skirting attached to a static
  3. Any shed, storage box or planting close to the base
  4. Awning, motor mover or hardstanding on a touring pitch
  5. Close-ups of any damp, delamination or damage

Booking once your quote is confirmed

We're always busy, so book within 24 hours of getting your quote. Leave it longer and you could be waiting weeks for a collection slot. It's the same reason we ask for a deposit to lock in the date: once it's booked, that slot is held for your caravan and everything sat around it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you remove awnings as part of a touring caravan collection?

Yes. If the awning's attached to, or sat with, the caravan when we collect, it comes off as part of the job. Just say so when you book, so it's costed in from the start rather than spotted on arrival.

Will decking push my static caravan price higher?

It can. A static with decking, steps and a shed built up around it takes longer to clear than one with none of that, so it tends to sit toward the top of the £1,800–£3,980 range rather than the bottom. Photos before quote day are what keep the number accurate.

What if my tourer isn't towable and has decking or an awning around it?

A not-towable tourer with decking or an awning still gets broken up on site, or taken away on a tow bed, the same as any other non-towable job. The decking and awning removal is added into that £500–£850 range rather than charged on top.

Can you take the shed as well?

Yes, as long as it's within reach of the caravan and included in what you photograph for the quote. Mention it up front and it's part of the price, not a separate call-out once we're there.

Whatever's sitting around your caravan, decking, an awning, a shed or a stack of storage boxes, tell us about it before we quote and it's one job, done properly, at a price that doesn't move once we arrive.
