Why It’s Important to Be Clear When Asking for a Caravan Scrapping Quote

Recently, we attended a caravan scrapping job in Manchester that highlighted exactly why clear communication is so important when requesting a quote.

The customer was very keen to lower the price, and as a goodwill gesture, we agreed to offer a discounted rate. However, one key detail was not mentioned before we arrived: the caravan was leaning against the neighbour’s fence.

When we got to the site, it quickly became clear that the caravan could not be moved safely. Any movement could have caused the neighbour’s fence to snap, which would have created further damage and extra problems for everyone involved.

We explained the situation to the customer and gave two fair options.

The first option was for the customer to arrange a skip. We would then scrap the caravan for the same discounted price we had already agreed.

The second option was for us to scrap the caravan there and then, but due to the extra risk, time, and care required, there would be an additional charge.

Unfortunately, the customer refused both options and requested the call-out fee back.

This is exactly why it is so important to be honest and clear when asking for a caravan scrapping quote. Every job is different, and small details can make a big difference. Things like restricted access, damage, the caravan leaning on a fence, being stuck in mud, blocked wheels, or being too close to another property can all affect how the job needs to be carried out.

We always aim to offer fair prices and help customers wherever possible. However, we can only quote accurately based on the information we are given. When unexpected surprises are found on arrival, it can mean extra labour, extra equipment, more time, and additional safety risks.

To avoid delays, extra costs, or misunderstandings, we always recommend sending clear photos and explaining the condition and location of the caravan before booking a collection or scrapping job.

A quick explanation at the start can save everyone time, money, and stress.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to remove and scrap caravans safely, fairly, and professionally. Clear communication helps us do exactly that.
